Pretzels at the Last Supper?

Posted by William Voelkle Monday, May 02, 2011 4:31:00 PM

MS G 44, fol. 80rYes indeed!  In several richly illuminated medieval manuscripts preserved in the Morgan’s vaults there are pictures of the Last Supper with beautifully depicted pretzels. In this example, from a mid-eleventh century Gospel Lectionary made in the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg, a pretzel can be found on the right side of table. There is also half of a pretzel to be seen to the left; Christ gives the other half to Judas. During the middle ages pretzels were eaten during the penitential season of Lent. It is thus appropriate that Judas does his penance before he betrays Christ.

One thing I'd really like to reply to is that fat recodtiun plan fast is possible by the appropriate diet and exercise. Someone's size not only affects appearance, but also the general quality of life. Self-esteem, major depression, health risks, plus physical abilities are impacted in an increase in weight. It is possible to just make everything right and at the same time having a gain. If this happens, a problem may be the primary cause. While an excessive amount food instead of enough body exercise are usually accountable, common health conditions and widespread prescriptions could greatly add to size. Thanks for your post right here.

Love this. Simple is almost aylaws better. Don't know why we gotta take a simple recipe or concept and totally complicate it and make it harder on ourselves (unless of course we have the time, energy or money to do all that). I usually have none of the above..lol. Gorgeous recipe and your pictures are making me salivate!
